    Performances typically include a carefully curated repertoire, demonstrating the dancer's command over the various elements of Bharatanatyam, such as nritta (pure dance), nritya (expressive dance), and natya (dramatic enactment). Guru Smt. Anjali Padmakumar

Smt. Anjali Padmakumar is the Artistic Director of the Natyanjani School of Dance and a distinguished exponent of the Vazhavoor style of Bharatanatyam. With grace and dedication, she has established herself as a Grade B Doordarshan Artist, recognized for her profound skill in this classical art form.

Anjali’s journey in Bharatanatyam began at the tender age of five under the tutelage of Vidushi Smt. Hemalatha Prakash, a disciple of Guru B. Bhanumati. Her early passion for dance naturally led her to pursue Bharatanatyam as her chosen career, a path she has followed with unwavering commitment.

Anjali holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communication and initially worked with a multinational corporation for three years. However, her deep-rooted love for Bharatanatyam eventually drew her back to her true calling. She has since completed various examinations in Bharatanatyam under the Karnataka State Board and has channeled her expertise into expanding Natyanjani, where she now trains the next generation of artists through her insightful teaching.

Her talents have been showcased on prestigious platforms, including performances with the esteemed actor and dancer Shri Vineeth at the Asianet Ujala Film Awards, as well as appearances on shows like Valkannadi, Amrutha TV Super Dancer, and DD Chandana. Additionally, Anjali has collaborated with renowned dancers from the Malayalam film industry, such as Divya Unni, Ramya Nambeeshan, and Parvathi Nambiar.

Anjali's dedication to her art has taken her to revered stages across India, including performances at the Guruvayoor Sri Krishna Temple, Udupi Sri Krishna Temple, Thiruvarapetti Mahadeva Temple, and the Natyanjani Festival at Chidambaram Nataraja Temple. Internationally, she has had the honor of performing at the Indian Classical Dance Concert in Munich, Germany.

In recognition of her contributions to Bharatanatyam, Anjali was felicitated with the prestigious Vrindrani Award by The Lasya Company, powered by IBC Channel, in 2021.
